Why the Medicube Zero Pore line became a Korean skincare favorite

Why the Medicube Zero Pore line became a Korean skincare favorite

The Medicube Zero Pore Line is one of the brand’s most iconic collections and is especially loved by people with oily or combination skin. This line focuses on minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores while helping to smooth uneven texture and control excess oil production.

The formulas contain ingredients such as AHA and BHA, which gently exfoliate the skin and help keep pores clear from buildup, blackheads, and excess sebum. Unlike harsh exfoliating products that can strip the skin, the Zero Pore products are designed to refine the skin gradually while maintaining balance.

This line leaves the skin looking smoother, cleaner, and more refined over time. It also helps makeup apply more evenly by improving overall skin texture.

Formulated ingredients

The Zero Pore Line is known for combining exfoliating acids with balancing and skin-refining ingredients.

These are the key ingredients throughout the line.

  • AHA helps exfoliate dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, improving rough texture and dullness.
  • BHA (Salicylic Acid) penetrates deeper into the pores to help dissolve excess sebum and congestion, making it especially effective for blackheads and oily skin.
  • PHA provides gentler exfoliation while also helping attract moisture into the skin, making it more suitable for sensitive skin types.
  • Niacinamide helps regulate oil production while brightening the skin and improving overall clarity.

Together, these ingredients help refine pores and smooth the skin without relying on harsh scrubs.

Which skin types is it best suited for?

The Medicube Zero Pore Line is suitable for oily and combination skin types. People with acne-prone skin may also enjoy the line because keeping pores clearer can help reduce congestion and breakouts over time.

How to use the Zero Pore line correctly?

The Medicube Zero Pore Line contains a variety of products designed to improve enlarged pores, excess oil, blackheads, and uneven skin texture. Because the line includes exfoliating ingredients such as AHA, BHA, and PHA, it is important to build your routine gradually and choose the products that best suit your skin type and sensitivity level.

Not every product in the line needs to be used with the same frequency. Some products, such as the cleansers and sunscreen, are gentle enough for daily use, while stronger exfoliating treatments like the toner pads or One Day Serum should not be used more than 3 to 4 times a week.

You do not have to use every product from the Zero Pore Line together, you can simply choose the products that best suit your skin type, concerns, and skincare routine.

A simple Zero Pore routine could look like this:

Step 1: Start with a Cleanser

Begin your routine with the Zero Pore Cleansing Oil and the Zero Pore SA Clear Capsule Cleansing Foam or Zero Foam Cleanser. These products help remove excess sebum, sunscreen, makeup, and impurities from the pores without making the skin feel stripped or tight.

The cleansing oil and foams can be used daily, the cleansing oil at night to remove makeup and the cleansing foams both morning and evening.

Step 2: Use a Toner or Toner Pad

After cleansing, you can follow with the Zero Pore Toner, Zero Pore Pad, or Zero Pore Pad Mild.

The Zero Pore Toner can be used daily, because the formula is designed to be lightweight and gentle enough for regular use. It is suitable for daily use at night and for all skin types, including oily, combination, and even sensitive skin.

The main difference between the Medicube Zero Pore Pad and the Zero Pore Pad Mild is the strength of exfoliation and the skin type they are designed for. The original Zero Pore Pad contains stronger exfoliating ingredients such as AHA and BHA, making it more suitable for oily, combination, and acne-prone skin that struggles with clogged pores, blackheads, excess sebum, and rough texture. It helps deeply cleanse the pores and visibly refine enlarged pores over time.

The Zero Pore Pad Mild is designed for sensitive, dry, or easily irritated skin types. Instead of stronger acids, it uses gentler exfoliating ingredients such as PHA together with soothing ingredients like Madecassoside and Centella Asiatica to help smooth the skin without causing irritation or redness. If your skin is oily and more resistant, the original version may work best for you, while sensitive or reactive skin types will usually benefit more from the Mild version.

These exfoliating products do not need to be used every day. It is recommended to starting once or twice a week at night and gradually adjusting the frequency depending on how their skin responds. It is important not to overuse these products, as they are generally not intended to be used more frequently than every other day, as excessive exfoliation may lead to irritation, dryness, or a weakened skin barrier.

Step 3: Optional One Day Serum

An optional step is The Zero Pore One Day Serum, for extremely oily or acne-prone skin. This serum is a highly concentrated exfoliant by a potent 15.2% blend of AHA, BHA, and PHA, it works to unclog pores, remove dead skin cells, and address buildup that can contribute to enlarged-looking pores. Because of the high percentage of active exfoliating ingredients, it is best to introduce it slowly into your routine, start by using this serum once or twice a week at night and do not use it more than 3 times a week.

It is also important not to combine the Zero Pore One Day Serum with the Zero Pore Pads or Zero Pore Pads Mild in the same routine, as using multiple exfoliating products together may be too intensive for the skin and could lead to irritation or a weakened skin barrier.

Step 4: Optional Weekly Treatment

The Zero Pore Mud Mask can be used as an additional treatment to help absorb excess oil and deeply cleanse the pores. Many people enjoy using it once or twice per week at night for extra pore care.

Step 5: Hydrate & Protect

Finish your routine with a hydrating moisturizer and during the daytime apply the Zero Pore Moisture Sun Serum daily. Sun protection is especially important when using exfoliating ingredients because the skin can become more sensitive to UV exposure.

Important note

If you are using stronger exfoliating products from the Zero Pore Line, such as the Zero Pore Pads or One Day Serum, avoid combining them in the same routine with other strong active ingredients like:

  • retinol
  • retinal
  • high concentrations of Vitamin C
  • additional exfoliating acids

Using too many active ingredients together can overwhelm the skin barrier and lead to irritation or sensitivity.

Consistency is key when using the Zero Pore Line. Most people notice the best improvements in skin texture and pore appearance after several weeks of regular and balanced use rather than overnight.
